Rashel Asfour - GSRP Student
I am very excited to be meeting you and your family very soon. I am very happy to know that we have a lot of things in common. I am 20 years old , currently studying Actuarial Science and Insurance for my second year in Notre Dame University , Catholic University. I have studied in a catholic school as well, Notre dame de louaize school. It was really tough and strict since it is a French-oriented sytem.
I teach 4th graders Math, English, arabic, and French in the afternoon in an after school center after my university courses. I play tennis, swim, go to the gym after work in the evening, and I love to participate in outdoor activities so I have a lot of things in common with Tori.I used to take guitar and voice lessons, and I sang with a band in my graduation ceremony in school two years ago, but unfortunately I stopped taking guitar lessons because of my intensive courses in University, but I'd love to sing again and get back into music with Abby. I am very excited to meet her! I am very pleased to know that you are active in church and I'd love to be active in the catholic church as well; moreover, I'd love to be involved in local community services.
So I am very excited to start my journey in Columbus.Furthermore, It is known that the United States has an educational system that is the best in the world, and I am honored to be taking some courses there in Columbus that I will surely benefit from.My family consists of 5 members. My dad, Issa ; My mom, Andree; My Sister lea, 12 years old ; and my sister Christina, 18 years old. My sister Christina will also be in Georgia studying in UGA through the Georgia Rotary program too. We are a very close family. We gather every Sunday at my grandparent's house for lunch.
Regular family team meetings have strengthened the bond between my family members. My family and I have visited Cyprus and Turkey. Being surrounded by a loving family strengthened my understanding of life and my belief that education is fundamental and essential. Besides motivating me to study, my parents taught me the meaning of respect.
